If it wasn't for the 'ouses in between.

Westminster Bridge Road as it is today . In 1943 it was very drab in comparison. The factory that was owned by A. Goldstein at 100 Westminster Bridge Road was AYGEE Ltd and was in the 1940s a large Glaziers which was built up by Arthur Goldstein who started with a large two wheeled barrow some panes of glass and window repair materials. I was one of the cockney urchins who was paid a threepenny bit to throw a stone into a basement in a a house in President Street which broke a window that  A G came round to repair at a later date.  It was ironic that my first job at the age of 14 was to be with AYGEE Ltd who had a Government contract to make iron legs for folding tasbles. My job was to rivet the sections of the legs for which I was paid £1- 10 shillings a week (£1- 50p)I was living at the time with my Aunt Sue in 16 Trafalgar Street London SE16 and to get t0 work I walked a mile to the Elephant & Castle tube station bought a two penny return ticket to Lambeth North  station on the Bakerloo line, and did the return journey 8 hours later.
